was the bassist in the band The Art Attacks formed by Sounds journalist
and cartoonist Edwin Pouncey. Real Name Marion Fudger, her identity
was kept secret hence... MS. Prior to the band Marion was a writer for
feminist magazine Spare Rib. For this reason she was not amused when a
stripper appeared on stage at The Marquee with Edwin: the photograph
of which duly appeared in Sounds! She was also an accomplished musician and
had played with the band The Derelicts who were on
the scene around 76/77 and who included Barbara Gogan later of The
Passions and Sue later of Pragvec. The Art Attacks broke up after two singles when
Edwin Pouncey decided to complete his degree. Marion went on to teach
at The Deptford Academy Of Music.
"...the
emphasis wasn't on technical expertise - and women came in playing all
kinds of things because of the extra confidence from knowing they
didn't have to be brilliant. The whole expression was anarchy - to do
and say whatever you felt like at the time. It was great !" Marion
Fudger. From 'Signed Sealed & Delivered - True Life Stories Of
Women In Pop' by Sue Steward & Sheryl Garratt.
