This Swiss all girl punk band formed in Zurich around January1978 and have the dubious honour of being the first punk band to form in cuckoo land. forced to change their name for obvious reasons to Lilliput. They were signed to Rough Trade and got to No1 in the Alternative Charts. Kleenex were championed by John Peel with their debut 45 'The Kleenex EP'. The follow up 'Ain't You' also topped the charts.

They were called the Swiss' Slits' but like most songs in a foreign language they soon began to grate on the ears. Lead vocalist Regula Sing was replaced by Chrigel Freund after the name change but the rest of the band remained pretty stable with Marlene Marder on guitar, Lislot Ha on Drums and Klaudia Schiff on bass.
