Punk in Scotland, like
other areas of the UK, was a different beast to the London
scene. Its clothes and attitude, though not necessarily its sound, were
different. It was constrained by an often intolerant public, no publicity and a
lack of places to play. which hampered development and
explains why so many fell away. At the same time these bands became local
heroes who when it was time to move south to take that step further
were often treated as deserters by their initially favourable home audience.
Credit to Robin Saunders
and Ross Galloway who contributed words and images and kicked this off 3
years ago. I'm sorry it took so long to sort out and there's more to come
here. |
