It's the first update of 2009 and onwards we roll inexorably towards something or another!!!
Loads of good stuff this update to get yer teeth into...This time we see the return of Mad Daddy's My Space picks.
And Talkpunk...
it's been really refreshing having new people, new views and
less of the one dimensional gang mentality of yore. It's a
friendlier place that reminds me of when we first started. Bring
your mum and have a chat and a nice cuppa tea.
Lastly it bye bye to Lux Interior
of the magical Cramps. a true rock n' roll legend who gave gave
us some fantastic live times and heaps of magical toons. You'll
be sorely missed!!

More luxurious than the den of toilet
iniquity that was the Roxy. The Vortex on Wardour Street was the
next bastion of Punk. Like its counterpart it had a live album
(or was it?),
was run by a colourful character and had its fair share of
shady connections. It also put on some of the greatest Punk and
reggae bills of the late seventies. We journey back into time to
that far flung place and take a peek. Can you guess the
connection with the failed kidnap attempt on Ronnie Biggs??
Just waiting now for the twat Kris Needs and
Mojo to rip this feature off and claim as their own.
Our lovable chum Brian Helicopter,
Bassist for the Shapes, recounts the reunion tour as our
favourite circles, squares and triangles head toward the Rebellion
festival in London December last year. Gasp as they are
treated humanely, warmly applauded, given a dressing room, a
decent stage and get records autographed by the greats of punkus
rockus!
As our all round
Punk renaissance man and Punk77 fave
Andy Blade releases a new album, we get to grips with
the legacy of Eater, where does a 40 year old sit in the world
of moosic and some serious existential thoughts about White
Horses and the Double Decker band.
Andy plays live - 24/04/09
Upstairs@The Union Bar, 50 Greek St, Lon W1, doors 7pm.
When booking tickets, mention TalkPunk, and you only have to pay
£7.50, instead of the normal £12.50.

I've got to say Mad Daddy has come up trumps again with this Los
Angeles Trio. He's right... think Pixies, think pop... think ...
some seriously good toons!
This band have everything going
for them and to boot Sarah wields a Gibson SG, surely the
supreme expression of guitar taste. To add to the feature
the Mad Daddio also conducts an interview with the band.
What you don't? Where the f**k
were you then? Another in our series of Roxy wannabees...this band
so very nearly made it to the Live Roxy Album. 'Why didn't
they?' I hear you ask. All is revealed by their ex roadie and
man about town Graham Jenkins who also fronted the avant garde
The Quids.
Oh yes over 30 years have passed
since Howard Devoto released the sublime 'Real Life' album. Sadly
in that period John McGeoch passed away but Devoto has assembled
all of the originals and reformed for just a few gigs.
TalkPunk devotees
attended the London Forum and Manchester academy and I think
they'll all agree that Talkpunker Skulduggery's review is an
absolute cracker that caught the moment perfectly.

available now called 'the Joys Of Work'. Described as a journey
from london suburbia to the barricades via punk rock, squatting, drugs ,
autonomist politics through to the urban riots of 1981. An alternative
