Punk 2007... Issue 3 July 2007
This is your Captain speaking...Bit of a gap between updates as its been full steam on the Roxy Book which looks like happening in October. More as I know it but first ...'ere we go!!!!

The Cortinas

The Cortinas were a bona fide top class punk band from Bristol who notched up two classic Punk singles before it all turned sour. Not only that these boys were only sixteen!! Dan Swan and Nick Shepherd give the lowdown on*/ the highs and lows of being a Cortina!!  Read it here

Pub Rock...

Grab yourself a beer and enjoy some Pub Rock! Before Punk, music was changing and a raft of bands skirted the spit and sawdust pubs playing  more souped up rough and ready r 'n' b based toonery for the beered up punters. This update enjoy archive articles from Roy Carr, Legendary Stud Brothers and Alex Gottschalk's Hammersmith Gorillas contribution. Lots more to come. Click on the links below...

White Hills

Best Of MySpace
This update Mad Daddy presents the legenbdary secretive band Bilston United with their nostalgic blend of glam punkand memories of 1970's Wolverhampton. Mad daddy conducts a  scoop interview  with them as they reminisce on times past and answer key questions like Amazin Raisins or Aztec bars!.

He also rates White Hills, the Tampoffs,  Thedo and Santa Dog and so do I because this is a great set of picks this update. Check 'em out. I'm biased to the Hawkwind/Monster Magnet style White Hills (they cite the mighty Groundhogs on their MySpace!) but I also love the Do tracks.

Click here to dive in the MySpace picks!

Thedo

Bastard & Plastic Bertrand...

Yet more on the legendary group and the mystery of the singing drummer ...or was it. Bassist of Bastard and founder of Raxola, Yves Kengen, spills the beans!!

Bastard | Plastic Bertrand

Multi page histories and features on the below...

U Samples Belsen Horrors The Spurts W12 Spots
The Sods, Gangsters, Epileptics were all doyens of the Harlow/Bishop Stortford scene. Now add U Samples to that list as bassist Mick Mitchell recounts. With a controversial name like that lets face it the band were never going to really get  anywhere...and they didn't!! But they've got a great story to tell though and that's what it is all about. Singer, Lenny Helsing, spills the beans Originally named Johnny Pullback and the Foreskins this Essex outfit thankfully changed their name! Read about their adventures here courtesy of vocalist Steve Manuell. Punk may have been described as Short, Sharp Shock but how about the W12 Spots? 2 songs through their set asked to leave and then no more! Get the lowdown here!
