Original Entry from October 2001.
What can I say. Its a fair bet that if you were sitting
down to a society dinner party in 1977 you would not be
having the sounds of the Pork Dukes in the background
!!!! Gross and offensive in their lyrics/record covers
etc (and that's no crime /criticism) they got no press and definitely no airplay (wonder why). Noone ever knew
their identities. Some reckoned this wasn't a bad thing .
Others thought it was session musicians having a laugh.
Still others thought the band might be Steeleye Span in
disguise. Try out songs like
Bend
& Flush, Telephone Masturbator, Throbbing Gristle or
the epic Making Bacon. There's a compilation CD coming out soon so try them out
for yourselves and don't take it too seriously.

On
the subject of The Pork Dukes Mr R. Soles a
representative of the band has emailed me this to say. "L-L-L-L-Like
It! W-W-W-W-Want It! The Pork Dukes came out
of nowhere in 1977 and unleashed some slabs of vinyl that
made the Sex Pistols sound like choir boys! Bad
press? How 'bout No Press! The magazines
didn't know who to blame! Still shrouded in mystery
after two decades, the band has, for the first time,
allowed the world to know part of their story!"

Talking about the Pork Dukes album
this is from e-bay internet auctions "VG+ copy of
this absolute 70s classic. In high school, my friends and
I played this every day!! Great filthy songs including
"Telephone Masturbator" and "Bend And Flush." This copy includes the insert and post card
(and the insert is even sicker than the songs.) It's
musically cool too--great catchy punky new wave/power
pop. "
"Incidentally,
the Pork Dukes definitely were members of Fairport
Convention / Steeleye Span taking the piss; 'though since
pretty much the same people were also the fuckin' Wombles
I don't think they were in a particularly good position
to be throwing stones ! "
