Conclusions Part 2

So having reached one set of conclusions an interview and an entry on a web site later a lot of questions are answered with just as many raised.
Contrary to Lee Wood's findings the start of The Moors Murderers were The Photons with Vince Ely, John and and The Kid set up by Andy Czechowski (Damned, Chelsea, GenX manager at various times and  Roxy Night Club proprieter). Steve Strange was introduced into the band by Andy C. Steve and Chrissie were already writing some songs one of which was the Free Myra Hindley song. They played the NSPCC gig as The Photons supporting The Slits and played the Hindley song to obvious outrage with the papers. While all this kicked off they were interviewed as Steve, Vince, Chrissie and John with bags on their head (all the original Photons bar The Kid).

Andy Czechowski - The instigator?

Now it gets messy. The Kid says he missed this furore as he was doing something else which is why Chrissie stepped in. This is probably the end of the Kids involvement with The Moors Murderers but what about The Photons  ? He says they toured with The Adverts and then gave up because the singer was crap but doesn't specifically mention Steve Strange as the singer. Indeed  what about the rest of the band ? To muddy the waters a bit more the fanzine article suggests the original band split up because "the manager wanted to change the name  and become a power pop group" ie possibly The Photons. However Dave Goodman helps to form another band. Vince and John are mentioned in the Bruce Elder article from late 77 and together with Chrissie and Steve are most likely to have made the demo tape from which any subsequent acetates were derived and who played the rehearsal so the band couldn't have split that much !!  However were Vince and John still playing in The Photons ?

Confused ? I am  !! Tex Axile's claims however are a little suspect. The name of the song (Free Moira Hindley !!)  is wrong and to suggest Topper Headon was on drums  and that Jet Records  were interested sound far fetched but hell I could be wrong !!! Tex also claims to have been in The Snivelling Shits. Treat as suspect.
