Dee Generate aka Roger Bullen joined Eater after Social Demise quit the band. Recommended and taught by Rat Scabies Dee was the youngest drummer on the scene aged 14 at the time.  Dee plays on the first two singles and No Brains on The Album.

According to Dee in John Savages' book 'England Dreaming' Eater, before he joined and punked them up because he couldn't play at slow speeds, "... didn't aspire to punk at all....they really wanted to be like the Velvet Underground".

Dee on Punk Rock... quote from fanzine  Sniffin' Glue 6 January 1977..."I don't know anything about 'punk'. I was just asked to join a band called Eater and I did. I was wearing a ripped up t-shirt at the time. They said "You must be a punk" and I said "oh yeah."

In his book 'Vacant' Nils Stevenson writes "Feb7 1977 Eater are the youngest group around. They're still at school. Dee Generate, their drummer, is only fourteen, and a lot of people want to f**k him."

The latest - and youngest - punk rock band played their first gig in North London last night. Called Eater, their average age is just 15. Their drummer is Dee Generate otherwise known as Roger Bullen a 14 year old schoolboy from Caterham Surrey. Unfortunately his voice has not yet broken so he sounds slightly incongruous when he is talking about his commitment to punk. "Some bands might get accepted," he piped " But WE will never be acceptable. "His mum, Mrs Helen Bullen is fully behind him. " I was a bit frightened for him at first, but now I have seen the band play I can see what they are trying to do." she said." I think it is great really. You should see him walking around - he looks like an old ragbag. Its so funny. Unfortunately we are having a bit of trouble with his school right now because he has taken so many days off. His headmaster doesn't seem to understand about punk rock. "

Dee Generate was replaced by Phil Rowland (himself only 16) in June 1977. The band said musical differences. Dee said he quit after being filmed for Don Letts' Punk Movie doing No Brains. He explains in 'England's Dreaming'.."That night the Millwall came, smashed the place up and beat everybody up. By that time I wanted to go back to school...anything was better than being involved in something that was straight off the football terraces" and claims "Eater didn't really know what they were doing...the pig's head was my idea."
