Banshees Pt3

Unfortunately what was new and fresh on the debut album became patchy and claustrophobic on the second, Join Hands, with an unsuccessful attempt to recreate the Lords Prayer not working The music and lyrics seemed formulaic but with still great moments like Ikon...Differences about everything caused McKay and Morris to depart acrimoniously. This was even more of a disaster because the Banshees had sunk their own money into the tour and would lose everything if they cancelled. Robert Smith of The Cure stepped in.
The Banshees would then go through a succession of guitarists as they formed their gothic psychedelic vision of music before calling it a day 20 years after they formed and after The Sex Pistols reformed for one off gigs. They never recaptured in my view the quality of The Scream except in patches but what a great album to make.

Selected Cuts. Excellent debut single Hong Kong Garden / Voices (1979 Polydor) and Mittageissen / Love In A Void (1979 Polydor). Selected cuts off The Scream...All. But if you must Jigsaw Feeling at earbleed level. Great bootleg Love In A Void ( see picture opposite top (R) ) featuring songs off demos and John Peel sessions and includes Make Up To Break Up. There's another bootleg Rehearsal 77 about featuring their version of Captain Scarlet and Bad Shape but avoid 100 Club bootlegs. Seriously it sounds like a flushing toilet. They would attempt to recreate The Lords Prayer on their next album Join Hands (1979 Polydor) but unsuccessfully.

Band. Siouxsie - Vocals. Steve Severin - Bass. Kenny Morris - drums. John McKay - Guitar
