Formed by MarkP of
Sniffing Glue fame in 1977 and armed with the three
chords illustrated in his fanzine they made some fine
singles and one okayish album The Image Has Cracked
on Deptford
fun City Records and then frazzled out into weirdness.
Fine singles include Action Time Vision /
Another Coke (1978)
How much Longer / You
Bastard (1977) and
Life / Love Lies Limp (1978).
Guitarist Alex Fergusson went on to become guitarist in
Psychic TV with Genesis P-orridge.
In ' God created Punk' Mark P writes
this about his own band "Our first few gigs
were brilliant...we soon got a reputation as being one of
the original bands in punk...I feel that we kept the punk
spirit more alive than anyone else"
Interesting
self appraisal. Mark P disliked the artiness of bands
liking the more earthy streetpunk of Sham 69 whom he
signed. That said ATV later produced unlistenable self absorbed arty singles and albums and gradually just....
well ....slipped away. Responsible also for a split
festival album with anarcho hippies Here and Now
