Regeneration - Ray Stevenson (Symbiosis 1987)

Ray Stevenson had the luck to be in the right place at the right time and captured most of the early days of punk with his camera. His pictures have been widely used in variety of publications but this is a strange book that seems to compile a jumble of pictures and put it together with the minimum of text (mainly quotes from music papers) to explain the history. Thank god most of it devoted to early Chelsea and  Generation X with fabulous pictures and quotes to boot. Not so good is the Sigue Sigue Sputnik bit but at least you can laugh at it. Don't be put off by the terrible cover the early Gen X photos are priceless. No marks for presentation but  **** for content.
