There's a lot of punk photo books and biographies coming on the market at the moment and this one is as as good as they get. Ian was a photographer at Sounds weekly music paper so was well placed at the right time. He also managed The Maniacs for their short life span. 

A lot of these photos have never been seen before. Great shots of the Pistols at Notre Dame plus all the usual suspects The Clash, Damned, Stranglers, Siouxsie to name a few with some great action shots of bands like The Jam  Coupled with this we have pictures of the Rezillos at the Roxy, X Ray Spex on the beach and The Maniacs at Mont Marsan Punk festival. Where this book wins is the audience shots (Sid &Vivienne, Shane McGowan etc)  and the informal shots of bands playing about and relaxed as opposed to a lot of the staged shots that we have come to recognize. This adds a dimension to the book as do the little notes from the members of various bands about the time. Thoroughly recommended. *****
