Justifiable
Homicide / Take Down Your Fences (The Label 1978)
A song all about Liddle Towers, who died in dubious circumstances in
police custody suggesting foul play by the police. Why did this single
come about? Who knows. And the friends? Dave Goodman was the Sex Pistols
earliest producer of their demos which explains why Paul Cook and Steve
Jones feature on drums and guitar albeit incognito. Bass is courtesy of
Ian Woodcock from Eater and also on guitars is Ben Brierley from The
Front (also on The Label and later in The Vibrators)
And the single? A
fine piece of Pistols riffola and not a bad song indeed. Came on red
vinyl. |

Dave
Goodman didn't stop there. If you ever find this going cheap buy it for
a laugh. Features snippets of cheesy cover versions of
Boredom, Outside View, New Rose, In The City, Career Opportunities and
Liar set to a
non stop disco back beat in the style in vogue at the time ie Jive
Bunny and Stars on 45. Who was the producer of this The
Friendly Hopeful's Tribute To The Punks of 76
on Abstract Records ? Step forward...Dave Goodman. Hilarious! |
